Climate Adaptation
MARDO’s Climate Adaptation Program aims to reduce climate-related risks and strengthen the resilience of communities to current and future climate shocks.
Somalia is highly vulnerable to climate change, with recurrent droughts, floods, and erratic rainfall patterns increasingly affecting food security, livelihoods, and access to essential services.
About Our Climate Adaptation Work
MARDO’s Climate Adaptation Program supports communities affected by droughts, floods, and environmental degradation to better anticipate, withstand, and recover from climate-related shocks. Through locally led and community-based approaches, we strengthen adaptive capacity, protect livelihoods, and promote sustainable natural resource management.
Women and girls in Somalia continue to face significant barriers to equality, including limited access to education and services, gender-based violence, and exclusion from decision-making processes.
MARDO delivers climate adaptation interventions through community-led, inclusive, and risk-informed approaches. Our work integrates climate resilience across sectors, linking adaptation with food security, WASH, health, and livelihoods to maximize impact.
